Coverage is selective and researched manually. Buyer notices can change between checks; use the buyer’s latest documents for requirements and submission.
Open bids for cleaning contracts vary substantially in cleaning frequency, supplies, staffing and submission requirements. This selection covers janitorial work at Danville’s 527 Bridge Street facility, six Galveston municipal buildings and South Carolina’s Goose Creek Health Department. The buyer documents give contractors concrete requirements to assess before preparing a price.
Checked on 5 October 2026. These are selected US janitorial opportunities, with original buyer links. Goose Creek has a mandatory site visit on 8 October. Its November response deadline alone is therefore not enough to decide whether you can still participate.
| Buyer and work | Main delivery or participation check | Response deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Danville, Virginia: 527 Bridge Street | Different frequencies for restrooms, common areas and entrances; contractor supplies the cleaning operation | 27 October 2026, 4 p.m.; timezone unstated |
| Galveston, Texas: six municipal buildings | Own employees; different building frequencies; clarify prefilled pricing figures | 29 October 2026, 10 a.m., labeled CST by the RFP |
| South Carolina DPH: Goose Creek Health Department | Mandatory visit 8 October, 2 p.m. ET; weekday evening cleaning | 12 November 2026, 2:30 p.m. ET |
For Danville, confirm the timezone before scheduling delivery. Galveston’s RFP expressly uses CST for an October date; confirm its intended deadline convention with Purchasing rather than silently converting it to another zone.
The Industrial Development Authority of the City of Danville is seeking janitorial and custodial services at 527 Bridge Street. The contractor supplies labor, supervision, materials, equipment and cleaning supplies. The initial term is one year, with four further one-year renewals by agreement.
The Danville RFP separates the work into useful pricing categories:
The buyer also requires service logs recording who attended, arrival and departure, tasks, deficiencies and corrective action. Monthly supervisory inspections and written reports are required; identified deficiencies generally need correction within 48 hours unless otherwise approved. Include the supervision and recordkeeping effort in your operating plan, alongside cleaning time.
The 5 October site visit is strongly encouraged, rather than mandatory under section 2.8. The published question deadline is 15 October, 5 p.m., and sealed proposals are due 27 October, 4 p.m.; the reviewed sources do not state a timezone. Paper proposals go to the City’s Purchasing Department, 427 Patton Street, Room 304. Electronic responses use Virginia’s eVA portal. Choose one submission method: the RFP does not accept duplicate electronic and paper responses. It also says electronic bidders must resubmit to the latest solicitation version when addenda are issued.
Use RFP 26-27-021 when searching. The buyer posting labels the opportunity open; its description contains a conflicting 26-27-027 number, while the title, header and PDF identify 26-27-021. Verify the matching address and document title in eVA. Read the personnel-access, company authorization, insurance and proposal-form conditions before finalizing eligibility.
Galveston’s RFP 26-24 covers City Hall, the Central Fire Station’s administrative section, Grants and Housing, Public Works administration, Island Transit, and the City Marshal/Code Enforcement facility. City Hall, Public Works and Island Transit are listed at five days per week; the fire-station administrative section and Grants and Housing at two; City Marshal/Code Enforcement at three.
The vendor must use its own employees. Staff must wear identification and company uniforms, and absence cover is required. Start and stop times are at the City’s discretion. The City supplies hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, toilet-seat covers and trash liners; the contractor supplies cleaning products and equipment. Facilities may be added or removed, so assess travel and staffing across the six locations rather than applying one uniform daily schedule.
The specification includes annual cleaning and polishing of City Hall’s 3,222 square feet of terrazzo. It also says not to include carpet cleaning in this package, despite other carpet-care tasks in its task list. Confirm how the buyer wants that distinction priced.
There is another issue to resolve before quoting: section 4.6 contains prefilled figures for two buildings, a $100,000 bid and a square-foot rate that do not match the actual six-building scope. Those figures should not be treated as a published budget or current market rate. Ask Purchasing how to complete the required pricing sheet for the actual facilities. The pricing terms hold proposed prices firm for three years, with limited increases on approved renewals.
The published evaluation is 50% cost, 20% reputation/references, 20% janitorial experience and 10% staffing/quality-control capability. Four comparable references are required. Prepare the signed forms, pricing, questionnaire and applicable addenda checklist in the stated order.
Next step: open the current Galveston buyer posting, then use its question and submission links. Questions are due 15 October, 10 a.m., labeled CST; responses 29 October, 10 a.m., labeled CST. Only online portal proposals are accepted, with a 250 MB limit per uploaded document. The posting lists 22 October in its addendum-date field: recheck then, without assuming that a future amendment already exists.
South Carolina’s Department of Public Health is buying cleaning for the Goose Creek Health Department, 106 Westview Drive. The revised solicitation describes approximately 5,100 square feet, with both hard flooring and carpet. Cleaning takes place Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET. This is an access window, not a requirement for four paid labor-hours every evening.
The contractor provides cleaning products, equipment, materials and labor. DPH provides consumables such as paper towels, toilet tissue, trash bags and liquid soap. The specification includes daily tasks and periodic floor, window and other cleaning. Access to laboratory and medical records areas needs special permission; DPH staff handle designated biohazard waste. Check the staff screening, confidentiality and business-associate documents before proposing personnel.
The mandatory site visit is 8 October at 2 p.m. ET. The 1 October amendment corrects the location and site-visit certification, and the revised solicitation asks for the visit certification to be returned. Use those current documents rather than an older notice referring to another health department. Questions go to the procurement officer by 13 October, 5 p.m. ET.
Pricing is an all-inclusive monthly cost, with a one-year initial contract and four possible one-year renewal options. The response deadline is 12 November, 2:30 p.m. ET. Online submission is preferred; the revised pack also gives specific paper-delivery instructions. Email bids are not accepted. Online bidding requires vendor registration, so check your existing supplier access early.
Next step: obtain the revised solicitation, Amendment One and other attachments from the official Goose Creek solicitation page. The South Carolina procurement service supplies the bidding route. Confirm the visit and all required documents before allocating full proposal time.
Apply the 30-minute go/no-go framework after checking the site-visit and staffing conditions.
For these buyers, use Danville’s bid posting and eVA, Galveston’s purchasing page, and South Carolina’s procurement service. Search janitorial, custodial services and the buyer reference. Read the response deadline separately from the public opening date, and inspect amendments before reusing a downloaded pack. Closed solicitations can show how a buyer specifies cleaning, but they are not open work to pursue.
The answer depends on the solicitation. Danville strongly encourages its visit; Goose Creek expressly makes its visit mandatory and requires certification. Check the current buyer wording and amendments instead of applying one rule to every cleaning contract.
No. Goose Creek’s 5–9 p.m. window specifies when work may be performed. Plan labor from the tasks, space, required frequencies and access constraints; do not assume the entire window is a fixed staffing quantity.
Only if the buyer identifies them that way. Galveston’s prefilled pricing figures conflict with its actual facility list. Seek clarification and avoid treating those figures as a budget, accepted price or prevailing market rate.
Once the visit, delivery capacity and pricing requirements fit your business, collect the current scope, forms and amendments. Use DeepRFP to organize the documents and prepare your response.
